The Yorkshire Lass
About This Spot
Stepping into The Yorkshire Lass feels like being welcomed into a well-loved corner of New Marske, where time slows just enough to savor simple pleasures and familiar comforts. This lively bar hums with a gentle, unpretentious energy, where laughter spills easily from the polished wooden tables and the murmur of friendly conversation fills the cozy space. The atmosphere strikes a comfortable balance between buzz and calm, inviting guests to settle in whether for a quiet drink, a casual meal, or an evening gathering.
The warmth here extends beyond the bar itself—there’s a genuine care threaded through the experience, evident in attentive staff who make you feel known without fuss. The room has a lived-in charm; the mood is relaxed but never stagnant, drawing a diverse mix of locals and visitors who appreciate its unfiltered, welcoming spirit.
Food at The Yorkshire Lass mirrors this sense of homegrown authenticity. The menu offers hearty, comforting dishes that feel both thoughtfully crafted and familiar, like a shared plate after a day’s work or a small celebration with friends. Whether it’s the satisfying crispness of a classic parmo or the indulgence of a warm cookie with ice cream to round off the evening, each bite reflects a quiet pride in good, honest cooking. Plant-based options sit alongside traditional favourites, ensuring there’s a place for nearly every appetite at the table.
The flow of the evening often carries onward, and it’s easy to imagine dropping in for a quick pint and staying for the next quiz night or an impromptu gathering. This isn't just a bar—it’s a gathering spot with an understated heartbeat, one where community and comfort come to the fore.
What many appreciate most is the understated attentiveness—from accommodating a heartfelt wake with a thoughtfully prepared buffet, to simply making newcomers feel at ease. It’s that subtle kindness, combined with good food and a steady, inviting atmosphere, that leaves people planning their return long before they’ve left.

Yesterday 28th November we had a wake here. The two staff who were there were amazing,we couldn't have asked for more. We asked for a buffet to be provided and it was very nice. I can highly recommend going here and we will be back as we've had food from here before and it it is beautiful. Thank you so much for looking after us all.

Great little place, friendly staff, shower and toilet available for campervans. Only downside was parking on gravel and not grass. Can't have everything though. Recommended.
